AUDIENCE FEEDBACK
Throughout my coursework I have regularly collected audience feedback on the products I have created and my ideas. This has made sure my products are appealing and will be successful. Feedback is very important to collect as you are able to improve your work as you go along. Your audience can tell you what they like about your work and what they dislike. This will enable you to change your product so it is more suitable to your target audience. I found the audience feedback very useful when I was creating my products. I asked my target audience questions about my ideas and plans so I knew before actually creating the trailer if what I planned would appeal to my audience or not.
This is an example of some of the feedback I collected when creating my trailer:

As you can see above we interviewed four people. We showed them our pitch and asked them questions on it. This enabled us to change our trailer ideas where needed and highlight other aspects.

This is more evidence of audience feedback. I conducted a questionnaire in my research and planning to get me started and understand what my audience liked and disliked in a trailer. This helped me a lot because it gave me basic knowledge of what I needed to know and what would be conventional for my crime/thriller trailer.

Audience Feedback for my Ancillary Products -

Create your free online surveys with SurveyMonkey , the world's leading questionnaire tool.

Above I have created a questionnaire for my ancillary products allowing me to understand the strengths and weaknesses of my poster and magazine. My target audience answered this questionnaire which made the results reliable and accurate. I have produced this to see if my products are successful and if they appeal to my audience. I will also know in the future how to make similar projects to a higher standard that the target audience are more attracted to.

As you can see above, 100% of my target audience think my poster and magazine are conventional. This means my research and planning has been effective and helped me create a successful product. I am very pleased with these results as it shows my hard work has been recognised.
For my next question I asked for the strengths of my poster and my magazine. For my poster I found that my target audience mainly liked the colour scheme, fonts and layout. When analysing existing products these were three areas that I focused on, again this shows my research and planning has been successful. The strengths of my magazine consisted of the colours and images. They said they like the pink, white and black colour scheme as it appeals to both genders. My products are a crime/thriller genre which conventionally are targeted towards male and females therefore I have chosen a successful colour scheme. My target audience said the image used was good because they liked the mid shot I used and they liked the use of the editing. They said that high key lighting used for the face and low key for the background worked really well and looked effective. Overall my target audience said many positive comments about my poster and magazine. This allows me to understand my work has been successful.

The next question I asked was 'how would you improve my poster?' and 'how would you improve my magazine?'. Many people who participated in the questionnaire were unsure on how to improve the poster. Some people said maybe experiment with fonts or include more writing. Due to the uncertain answers this makes me feel my poster is at a high quality standard that already successfully appeals to my target audience.  Meaning nothing major needs improving. For my magazine the main suggestion was to add more coverlines or use a variety of fonts. Again some people answered with nothing. I have used a consistent font on my magazine cover so I understand what my target audience are recommending and think it would be good to experiment with more fonts.

The last question I asked was 'would you buy these products?'. Everyone who answered my questionnaire said yes. My poster and magazine are clearly very appealing to my audience which assures me of the work I have completed. The knowledge I have developed throughout the coursework has proven to be efficient and effective as I have produced products that my target audience would go out and buy.

Through asking my target audience questions on my ancillary products I have discovered many things. I understand where my strengths and weaknesses are which I can build upon in the future. It is clear to me that my research and planning has proven to be extremely effective in creating successful and conventional products that appeal to the right audience. This is due the many positive comments I have received. I am pleased and satisfied with the answers I have collected and feel my poster and magazine are completed to a good standard. I am happy with my products and believe they are conventional and appealing for the target audience.

Technology

POPPLET - different technologies I have used throughout my A2 Coursework

These are images of me using iMovie during the editing stage of my film trailer.
Imovie was a vital part in creating a successful and professional looking product. I used this to edit all the shots together, add transitions, music, sounds etc. This software allowed me to show off all of the editing skills I have developed and use them to my advantage in creating a conventional trailer.
I was able to change the timings of the shots/clips to very specific times. For example at the beginning of the trailer I have used a series of various close up shots of the characters. I changed the length of them to a much shorter time in order to create a fast paced editing effect. I did this because in my research I found this was conventional for crime/thrillers. It creates a dramatic effect and makes the audience feel on edge as they don't know what to expect next. Below is an image of me using the clip-alteration option.

Another aspect of iMovie that was very useful was the sound editing software. I was able to connect specific beats to specific shots of the trailer. For example I used a beat drop when the girls are running away. This created a dramatic effect and showed they were running from something they had done wrong. I could merge clips together to create a continuous flow of sound which is conventional for a trailer. Below is an image of me using this process to create an exciting effect.

On the image below you can see me adding text to the trailer. I did this throughout my trailer because I wanted to include quite a lot of information on my trailer. I was also able to add text to clips so both were shown at the same time. For example when the characters came on I added their names to the shot to entice the target audience to watch the film. I did this by dragging one of the options that are shown in the bottom right corner into the clip I wanted on the top left corner. I could also change the fonts and colour of the text by pressing the 'view fonts' option. There was a wide variety of fonts which allowed me to chose the most suitable and conventional for my trailer. I also chose to use a combination of lower and upper case to make the font as appealing as possible.

The image below shows me watching my footage back and doing the general edit of my footage. In the top left corner is the series of clips placed together in the order I have chosen for my actual trailer. IMovie was very useful because it was easy to move clips to the best place possible and I could see where things would fit most appropriately. At the bottom is all the footage I had filmed, by clicking on the different dates at the side I could get different footage from the various times I had filmed. I could drag the clips I wanted to be in my trailer from the bottom to the top left hand corner. I could make any changes that I needed to immediately because I could see what looked best by watching my work back constantly throughout the editing process.

As you can by the image below in the top left corner below the clips there are blocks of writing in either green or purple. Different colours represent different edits that I have added to my trailer. The green blocks represent the non-diegetic music. I could change the length and positioning of these to place the music in the most appropriate places. The purple block represents sounds that we had recorded ourselves and added to create an effective product. For example most of the speech within the trailer we recorded again and lip-synced it to the scenes where there was dialogue. This was because it sounded more professional and sometimes our speech wasn't clear. Another example is the whispering of the word 'wild'. I added this a few times and synchronized it with specific beats of the music and shots that were shown. I did find this quite difficult because I wanted to link it to both the music and image to make it most effective. One example of this is when the car lights turn on really brightly and the music gets slighting louder and tenser. This created a more dramatic effect and the word 'wild' had a purpose.
The other colour block was blue. This was used for text. I used quite a lot of text in my trailer as I found it was conventional when I analysed existing products. The text consisted of things such as actors names, film title (W!LD), release date, 'this summer', website etc.

Overall the technologies I have used throughout my A2 coursework have been very significant in creating an effective and professional looking product. I was able to collect a wide amount of research and had advanced knowledge on how to plan my work. This made it alot easier when actually creating my ancillary products and trailer. Imovie was one of the main technologies that was extremely useful to me as it enabled me to edit all my footage together in an effective way. Technologies such as prezi, poplet and wallwisher allowed me to present my work in more sophisticated and professional ways. Throughout this coursework I have developed many skills in the use of technology and advanced my knowledge on how to use certain technologies. Technology has proven very useful throughout my entire coursework.
